CLOSURE NOTICE

The Cultural Village will be closed today, 24th August 2012, for a private event. It will reopen tomorrow, 25th August 2012.

Please be informed that due to unforeseeable circumstances Chalkdust is unable to come to the UK and therefore we are substituting the events he is billed in. 

On Friday 17 August 7.30pm London Liming renowned poet John Agard is joining the bill and will be co-hosting the event.

On Saturday 18 August the 4pm Performance Talk is rescheduled to 3pm - we hope you will still be able to attend. This event will now be the current Calypso Monarch Alexander D Great presenting with Ray Funk:

A Model Nation: Dr Funk and Alexander D Great on Independence and Calypso, a lively talk with performance.

The 2pm Film, Family Event: Independence on Film is will go on as scheduled.

On Sunday 19 August 4pm the “Quotable Quotes in Calypso” will now be The Shadowboxer, a one-man performance by acclaimed poet and short fiction writer Roger Robinson.

 

 

 

The Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, London, has embarked on a programme of activities to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Independence of Trinidad and Tobago.

The festival will include a number of children’s workshops. Look out for Trinidad stars including Machel Montano, Ella Andall, Orange Sky, Sheldon Blackman.
The cultural displays will also show local films, theatre and a variety of locally-produced music, including classical, jazz. There will be booths with local foods such as bake and 

shark, curry, sada roti, local soups and a Creole kitchen.
